Off the coast of Hoi An, the Cham Islands – Cu Lao Cham – are a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, with clear water, a protected marine area and a slow-moving island village. The speedboat from Cua Dai harbour gets you there in the cool of the morning.
Step ashore at Bai Lang to see the boat shelter, Hai Tang Pagoda and the traditional fishing village, then slip into the water for about 45 minutes of snorkelling. The rest of the day is unhurried: a beach at Bai Ong or Bai Chong, more swimming, and a seafood lunch before the boat back.
