Hanoi City Tour – Half Day with Lunch

  • Hanoi
  • Excursión de un día
  • Grupo reducido
  • Recogida en el hotel

Half a day, the heart of Hanoi: choose the morning (Tran Quoc Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Museum of Ethnology) or the afternoon (Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo Prison), lunch included.

Short on time in Hanoi? Half a day is enough to meet the city properly – if you spend it in the right places.

The morning tour takes you from Tran Quoc, Hanoi's oldest pagoda on West Lake, to Ba Dinh Square and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and on to the Museum of Ethnology and its houses of Vietnam's 54 peoples. The afternoon tour pairs the Temple of Literature, seat of Vietnam's first university, with Hoa Lo Prison, the 'Hanoi Hilton'.

Either way lunch is part of it – or skip it and pay less.

Morning tour · Tran Quoc Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum & Museum of Ethnology

Visitors walking path to Tran Quoc Pagoda tower

The morning option visits three sights. Hanoi's oldest pagoda, with roots going back some 1,500 years, sits on a small peninsula in West Lake. Its slender red stupa rising over the water is one of the city's most-loved views. The granite mausoleum stands on Ba Dinh Square, where Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence in 1945. The square and its surroundings are among the most significant places in modern Vietnamese history. Last comes the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, a window into the lives of Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups, with full-size traditional houses in its outdoor garden. The tour ends with lunch.

The afternoon option starts with lunch (pick-up 12:30; 13:30 if you skip lunch) and then visits two sights. Founded in 1070 to honour Confucius, it became home to the Imperial Academy, Vietnam's first university. Courtyards of old trees and ponds lead past stone steles carved with the names of doctoral laureates, set on the backs of stone turtles. Built by the French colonial government in the late 19th century to hold Vietnamese political prisoners, and later known to American pilots held there as the 'Hanoi Hilton'. Today the remaining section is a museum. The afternoon sights may change depending on the morning's program.
