A long, varied day that starts in the Champa valley and ends on Hoi An's lantern river. With a local English-speaking guide you spend about two hours at My Son Sanctuary, watch an Apsara dance, then make rice paper and have lunch with cold herbal tea at village houses.
Instead of the road, you return by boat along the Thu Bon River and go straight on to Cam Thanh, where a boat slips through the coconut forest and the locals show off their basket-boat skills. The afternoon and evening are for Hoi An Old Town – the arts performance, Tan Ky House, the Japanese Covered Bridge and the night market – followed by a set dinner and a flower lantern on the Hoai River.
