Three days that combine a night in a Sapa town hotel with a night in the village, trekking from Cat Cat to Lao Chai, Ta Van and Giang Ta Chai. A land tour starting in Sapa: transport Hanoi – Sapa – Hanoi is not included.

This trip gives you both sides of a Sapa night: the comfort of a hotel in town and the quiet of a village in the Muong Hoa valley.

The route runs from Cat Cat, the H'mong village just below town with its waterfall and early 20th-century French hydro plant, through the rice terraces to Lao Chai and Ta Van, and on to Giang Ta Chai, a Red Dao village further along the valley.

Choose a dorm or a bungalow for the village night, and a 3-star, 4-star or 5-star hotel for the night in town.

    Village life

    Day 1: Sapa – Cat Cat village

    Cat Cat village waterwheel huts and stream in Sapa

    Meet your group in Sapa town. Walk down to Cat Cat, a village of the H'mong, to learn about their customs and way of life, and see Cat Cat waterfall and the hydroelectric plant built by the French in the early 20th century. Overnight at your hotel in Sapa town.

    Into the valley

    Day 2: Lao Chai – Ta Van trek

    Trek to Y Linh Ho village, then hike through the rice terraces along the Muong Hoa stream to Lao Chai, a village of the Black H'mong, with the spectacular Hoang Lien Son range all around. Pass tribal villages including Lao Chai and Ta Van, home to the Black H'mong, Dzao and Dzay peoples. Overnight in the village.

    Red Dao village

    Day 3: Giang Ta Chai – end of tour

    Continue to Giang Ta Chai, a village of the Red Dao people further along the valley. The tour ends in Sapa. Transport back to Hanoi is not included and can be booked on request.

Which combinations can I choose?

Village dorm + 3-star hotel (1,680,000 VND), bungalow + 3-star hotel (1,890,000 VND), bungalow + 4-star My Boutique (2,450,000 VND), bungalow + 4-star Charm (2,590,000 VND) or bungalow + 5-star hotel (3,430,000 VND) per person. Single supplements are listed in the notes.

Are meals and a guide included?

We confirm the meals, guide and entrance tickets for this program, and the day-by-day order of the stops, in writing when you book.

Is transport from Hanoi included?

No. This is a land tour that starts in Sapa, so the trip Hanoi – Sapa – Hanoi is not included. We can book a round-trip bus ticket for you: sleeper bus from 280,000 VND, cabin bus from 490,000 VND and Limousine (Dcar) from 532,000 VND per person. For the train, ask us and we will check.

How much do children pay?

Children aged 1–4 go free when sharing transport and a bed with their parents (parents pay any extra costs). Children aged 5–8 pay 75% of the tour price, with their own meals and sharing a bed with their parents. From 9 years old the adult price applies. Bus tickets are charged at the adult price for every age.

Are prices different on public holidays?

Yes, tour prices are 40% higher on New Year (31/12 – 02/01), Lunar New Year (from the 28th of the last lunar month to the end of the 4th day of Tết), 30/4 – 1/5, Hung Kings Commemoration (29/04) and 2/9.

Can I add Fansipan?

Yes. Adding Fansipan costs 1,400,000 VND per person and covers the Fansipan cable car and the transfer. The Muong Hoa train and the summit train tickets (both ways) are not included.
